Standardised Extracts

I have written about ingredients in our newsletters before and we are all aware of certain industry standard products where other ingredients have been added to enhance the activity of the product, solely based on price.

Ginkgo Biloba is a principal example of this, which we have reported on, with added rutin or quercetin.

Chondroitin is another where internationally recognised methods of analysis aren’t used or even starch is added!

Do we all not have responsibility to ensure, the best ingredients are used for consumer use?

Recently I approached a PR Agency to start work with the backing of some of our principals to highlight some of these areas. They wouldn’t even discuss the concept as they felt it might compromise their existing business as they didn’t know if their clients would approve!

Surely it should be about nutritional benefits and health and not the cost of a product?

There are many good manufacturer contactors and ingredient suppliers who give good value for money and don’t just provide a certificate.
